Origin and history
Dien Cham ("diện chẩn" in Vietnamese: "facial diagnosis") was developed in the 1980s by Professor Bui Quoc Chau in Vietnam. It is a young method but expanding in French-speaking Europe and Canada. The system identifies around 600 points on the face corresponding to different organs and functions.
Principles and foundations
According to Dien Cham, the face is a holographic map of the body: each organ, joint and function has its correspondence there. Manual stimulation or with small tools (rollers, hammers, metal detectors) on the appropriate points activates neurological and energetic responses in the corresponding area.
Typical session flow
A session lasts 30 to 60 minutes. You are seated or lying down. The practitioner first identifies sensitive points by palpation, then stimulates areas corresponding to your reason. Often taught as self-care to practice at home with simple protocols.
Main indications
Headaches, ENT disorders, mild digestive disorders, joint pain, muscle tension, anxiety, sleep disorders. Very suitable for self-practice between sessions.
Contraindications and precautions
Very few contraindications. Avoid on damaged, inflamed, or recently operated skin areas. Dien Cham is not suitable for serious pathologies as an isolated treatment.
State of research
Formal scientific research is very limited due to the youth of the method and its regional origin. The felt benefits are reported empirically by practitioners and patients for 40 years.
How to choose a practitioner
Prefer practitioners trained directly at the official Dien Cham school (France, Belgium, Vietnam). Typical fees: $50 to $90 per session. Self-practice initiation courses are accessible ($100 to $250).
