Bioenergy

Direct work with the human body's energy fields to release stagnation.

Energy workSubtle touch

Origin and history

Bioenergy gathers modern approaches (since the 1970s) considering the human body as a subtle energy system measurable and influenceable. Inspired by Chinese medicine, yoga, biophysical discoveries (body's electromagnetic fields) and some psychotherapeutic approaches (Wilhelm Reich, Alexander Lowen).

Principles and foundations

The practitioner works with hands placed or hovering to perceive zones of energy stasis and rebalance them. The premise: illness first roots in an energy blockage before becoming somatic.

Typical session flow

45 to 75 minutes. You stay clothed, lying down. The practitioner scans the body with their hands, detects blocked areas, applies release techniques (passes, gentle pressure, intention). Reported sensations: warmth, tingling, emotional releases.

Main indications

Chronic stress, unexplained fatigue, emotional blockages, life transition support, search for global balance. As support.

Contraindications and precautions

No physical contraindication. NEVER replaces medical treatment. Beware of practitioners promising to cure serious pathologies.

State of research

Solid clinical evidence is limited. The biofield concept is studied by some branches of the US NIH but remains controversial. Felt benefits could come from placebo, reassuring touch, and quality of listening.

How to choose a practitioner

Verify training (ideally several hundred hours), ask for references. Typical fees: $70 to $110 per session.
